| Resumen: | El objetivo del presente trabajo es determinar el índice de resistencia (IR) de la arteria umbilical y de la arteria cerebral media fetal en sujetos normales que cursan la segunda mitad del embarazo. Se realizó un estudio prospectivo longitudinal de gestantes sin complicaciones desde las 20 semanas hasta el término del embarazo. En 125 gestantes seleccionadas, el índice de resistencia se evaluó en la arteria umbilical en una zona libre del cordón umbilical, en ausencia de movimientos respiratorios y con ritmo cardiaco normal, haciendo la lectura en una nota de flujo uniforme para que haya valores similares en los diferentes cálculos. La arteria cerebral media fue evaluada con los mismos software del equipo LOGIO 500 MD/MR 3 de G.E. Los resultados muestran que los índices de resistencia de ambas arterias disminuyen progresivamente hasta las 40 semanas. Durante la segunda mitad del embarazo el índice de resistencia cerebro-placentario es mayor de uno. En conclusión, en gestaciones normales el IR de la arteria umbilical es alrededor de 0,750 y el IR de la arteria cerebral media es alrededor de 0,900 a las 20 semanas y disminuye progresivamente hasta las 40 semanas, siendo el descenso más marcado entre las 26 y 34 semanas en la primera. La relación del IR de la arteria cerebral media y el IR de la arteria umbilical siempre es mayor de 1 entre las 20 y 40 semanas. (AU)^iesThe objetive of this study is to determine the resistance index (RI) of the umbilical artery and of the fetal mediam cerebral artery in normal subjects during the second half of pregnancy. It was carried out a longitudinal prospective study of pregnancies without complications from the 20th week through the end of pregnancy. In 125 selected pregnants the resistance index was evaluated in the umbilical artery in area free of the umbilical cord, in absence of breathing movements and with normal heart rhythm, making the reading in wave of uniform flow so that they have similar values in the different calculations. The median cerebral artery was evaluated under the same technical conditions. The evaluation of the resistance index was carried out using the software of the team LOGIO 500 MD/MR 3 of GE. The results show that the RI of the umbilical artery and the median cerebral artery decreases progressively from the 20th throug the 40th week of pregnancy. During the second half of pregnancy the RI brain - placental is higher than one. In conclusion, in normal gestations the RI of the umbilical artery is around 0,750 en the RI of the median cerebral artery is around 0,900 at 20th week of pregnancy and decrease progressively throug the 40th week. This decrease is more marked between the 26 and 34 weeks in the first one. The RI of the median cerebral artery and the umbilical artery higher than 1 between 20 and 40 weeks. (AU)^ien.
